What you’ll do
We are seeking a Process Control Engineer to support operations in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering process control engineering support to Santos’ PNG operations.
- Improving base layer and advanced process control (APC) systems to increase production and reduce losses.
- Supporting real-time responses to plant production upsets and participating in incident investigations.
- Enhancing plant protection layers, including SIS, regulatory controls, HMI, and alarm systems.
- Maintaining and optimising APC platforms such as Honeywell Profit Suite and AspenTech DMC.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to scope and implement control system improvements and capital projects.
- Participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), SIL reviews and DCS/SIS lifecycle management.
- Assisting with commissioning activities and delivering control system documentation.
What you’ll bring:
Essential experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Eligible for RPEQ or Chartered Engineer status.
- Proven industry experience, with at least 2 years in process control.
- Experience with DCS configuration (preferably Honeywell PKS and/or Experion).
- Proven ability to support process operations and optimise regulatory and advanced control systems.
- Skilled in developing control documentation and interpreting P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, and logic diagrams.
- Familiarity with process simulation tools such as UniSim.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer (achieved or in progress).
- Experience with AspenTech DMC, Honeywell Profit Suite, or Rockwell PLCs.
- TUV-certified Functional Safety Engineer.
