Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager / Senior Procurement Manager to oversee and optimize all procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply‑chain activities within a major port terminal operation. The role will support the engineering, operations, and commercial teams by ensuring the cost‑effective, timely, and compliant acquisition of equipment, spares, materials, and services – particularly for container‑handling equipment, straddle carriers, cranes, and critical infrastructure.

The successful candidate will strengthen supplier relationships, drive procurement excellence, and support a growing, modernization‑focused terminal environment with world‑class standards in quality, safety, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full procurement function in a high‑complexity port/industrial environment.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for engineering spares, heavy equipment components, operational consumables, OEM services, and major maintenance contracts.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with budget requirements, operational needs, and CAPEX project timelines.
  • Establish procurement policies, governance standards, and compliance procedures.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and service-level agreements with OEMs, strategic suppliers, and contractors.
  • Drive cost‑saving initiatives, supply‑chain risk mitigation, and vendor‑performance programs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
  • Manage tender processes, technical evaluations, commercial assessments, and contract awards.
  • Oversee purchase order processing, supplier onboarding, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Analyse procurement data, market trends, and consumption patterns to support executive reporting.
  • Ensure alignment with international best practices safety, environmental, regulatory, and internal audit requirements.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

Education

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CIPS or similar professional certification advantageous.

Experience

  • 8–10 years’ experience in procurement or supply-chain management, preferably in ports, terminals, heavy industry, mining, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Incoterms for international procurement, logistics coordination, and supplier contract negotiations.
  • Strong exposure to engineering procurement, OEM negotiation, equipment maintenance supply chains, or capital equipment sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement teams and high‑value contracts.

Technical Expertise

  • Understanding of mechanical/electrical spare parts, industrial components, and OEM supply structures.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, procurement modules, and vendor‑management tools.
  • Experience with tender processes, contract law, and category‑management methodologies.
