MAIN FUNCTIONS
The Production Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing daily production operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted execution of production activities. The role provides leadership to production personnel, optimizes operational performance, ensures equipment reliability, maintains product quality, and drives compliance with Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) standards while achieving production targets and operational objectives.
TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Monitor production performance, process parameters, and equipment conditions to maximize operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Ensure production operations are carried out in accordance with approved operating procedures, work instructions, and company standards.
- Supervise production personnel, allocate work assignments, and provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to the production team.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Process teams to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities with minimal impact on production.
- Monitor the operation of production equipment and systems, ensuring they operate within established performance and safety limits.
- Investigate production upsets, equipment failures, process deviations, and operational incidents, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Review daily production reports, shift logs, and operational data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeover activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Ensure production losses are minimized through effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of production processes.
- Verify that all production activities comply with Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) requirements, Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of production facilities and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings to promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure accurate documentation of production records, operational reports, equipment logs, and shift handover information.
- Monitor inventory levels of production chemicals, consumables, and operational materials, and coordinate replenishment where necessary.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and contractors to ensure seamless execution of production activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, equipment reliability, and operational performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of production procedures, operating manuals, and work instructions.
- Mentor and develop production personnel to enhance competency, productivity, and succession planning.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.
Job Requirement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Professional membership with a recognized engineering or industry body is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant production operations experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
