The Purchaser is responsible for fulfilling demand requirements out of the Columbia Oilfield Supply Warehouse in Edmonton. This role will require maintaining an open channel of communication with operating centers and customers regarding product specifications, order processing, pricing, cost savings, credits, backorders, and other issues.

DAY IN THE LIFE: 

  • Review incoming orders for accuracy in terms of materials, pricing, and value, and confirm all orders are processed and completed on a timely basis, which includes the procurement of non-stocked materials as well as buy-out materials.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting Department regarding order and/or vendor issues, as well as with warehouse personnel regarding order accuracy and shipping.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with operating centers and customers, while emphasizing product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales order forms and/or reports.
  • Participate in Customer Service troubleshooting investigations when required.
  • Assist in day-to-day warehouse operations when required, including returning stock items into inventory and assisting with the physical inventory count procedure.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation schedule.

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: 

  • A degree or diploma in a related discipline is an asset
  • Experience in SAP and a medium-to-strong computer skill set is required
  • Previous oilfield supply experience is desirable, with a strong knowledge of oilfield consumable requirements (drilling, well servicing, snubbing, manufacturing, vendors)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to assist with customer service and vendor relationships
  • A positive attitude towards customers and co-workers, with the ability to work as part of a dynamic team
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Must be committed to safety and the promotion of a safe work environment
