Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities across their mining operations in Morocco. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will play a key leadership role in driving a strong safety culture across high-risk mining environments. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with local legislation and international best practices, implementing robust HSE systems, and promoting continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence and workforce wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all Health & Safety activities across site operations within a high-risk mining environment.
- Ensure full compliance with local regulations, company policies and international safety standards.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve HSE policies, procedures and management systems.
- Monitor, investigate and analyse incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to site safety requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and safety reviews to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
- Deliver training, coaching, and awareness programmes to strengthen safety culture across all levels of the operation.
- Monitor HSE performance indicators and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
Qualification and Skill:
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Mining, Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in Health & Safety within large-scale international mining operations.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001 and OSHA standards.
- Working knowledge of ICMM standards will be highly advantageous.
- Fluent in French is mandatory. English proficiency will be advantageous.
