Security Manager (Gold Mine Security / FIFO Security / Gold / Greenfield) – Guyana, South America

Our client, a leading mining company, is seeking an experienced Security Manager / Security Superintendent to lead security operations for a greenfield gold mining project in Guyana. The role will provide overall security leadership throughout the construction and commissioning phases of the project. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting personnel, assets, infrastructure and operations across the mine site, camps and access corridors. Candidates with previous mining security experience in West Africa or other remote and complex environments are particularly encouraged to apply.

• Lead and implement the project Security Management Plan across the site.
• Manage and develop the site security team, including supervisors and security personnel.
• Manage and monitor contracted security/guard forces against agreed standards.
• Oversee access control, perimeter security, patrols and incident management.
• Manage firearms and use-of-force requirements in accordance with applicable legislation.
• Monitor security threats, intelligence and risks and provide regular reports to management.
• Maintain relationships with police, government authorities, communities and contractors.
• Lead security training, drills, audits, emergency response and continual improvement initiatives.

• 10+ years’ experience in security, military or law enforcement, including senior security leadership.
• Proven experience within the mining/extractive industry, preferably gold or base metals.
• Experience in remote, complex or high-risk environments; West Africa experience is advantageous.
• Greenfield, construction-phase or mining project experience is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience managing security teams and contracted guard forces.
• Recognised security, risk management or related professional qualification/certification.
• Knowledge of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) is advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Site-based position with periodic travel to Georgetown.
• Rotation: 7 weeks on / 3 weeks off.
• Opportunity to lead security operations for a major mining development.
