    Adexen is mandated by a leading player in the energy sector to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager – Energy Products Sales to support its operations in Lagos, Nigeria

Responsibilities

    The Senior Commercial Manager – Energy Products Sales is responsible for driving revenue generation, optimizing product offtake, and managing key commercial relationships across domestic and export markets.

    The position requires a strong balance between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, ensuring effective delivery across the full sales cycle, from customer engagement and volume planning to delivery coordination and revenue collection.

     

    Sales Strategy and Market Execution

    • Develop and implement sales strategies for petroleum products including PMS, AGO, ATK, LPG, and related outputs
    • Drive both domestic and export sales to ensure optimal utilization of production capacity
    • Monitor market trends, pricing benchmarks, and competitive dynamics to inform commercial decisions
    • Contribute to medium- and long-term commercial planning aligned with growth objectives

     

    Customer and Contract Management

    • Build and manage relationships with key customers, distributors, marketers, and export counterparties
    • Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, volumes, delivery terms, and credit arrangements
    • Oversee execution and compliance of sales contracts and offtake agreements
    • Manage disputes and ensure timely resolution of commercial issues
    • Ensure effective follow-up on receivables in coordination with Finance teams

     

    Pricing and Revenue Optimization

    • Implement pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and internal guidelines
    • Coordinate with Trading and Finance teams to optimize margins and secure approvals
    • Track sales performance against revenue and profitability targets

     

    Sales Operations and Coordination

    • Oversee the full sales cycle, including customer engagement, demand planning, volume allocation, and delivery coordination
    • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to align production with sales commitments
    • Ensure efficient product dispatch and minimize inventory build-up
    • Lead forecasting and demand planning activities

     

    Risk, Compliance and Governance

    • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory frameworks, and governance standards
    • Support audits related to contracts, pricing, and revenue recognition

     

    Leadership and Team Management

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team
    • Promote a performance-driven culture with strong commercial discipline

    Desired Skills and Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
      • MBA or Master’s degree is an advantage
      • Minimum 12 to 15 years of experience in commercial roles within oil refining, downstream oil and gas, trading, or energy markets
      • Solid end-to-end sales operations experience, covering the full commercial cycle from customer management to delivery execution
      • Proven expertise in petroleum product sales, pricing strategies, and contract negotiation
      • Strong understanding of the Nigerian domestic market, with demonstrable in-market experience
      • Experience operating in complex, large-scale industrial environments
      • Practical, hands-on experience with a strong operational mindset, as opposed to purely theoretical or overly global exposure
      • Strong commercial and financial acumen
      • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
      • Strong ownership of the full sales lifecycle, beyond pricing and discounting considerations
      • Advanced negotiation and stakeholder management skills
      • Data-driven decision-making approach
      • Leadership and team development capabilities
      • High level of integrity and governance awareness
