Pumpdown Perforating (PDP) – Wireline Roles
This document outlines key responsibilities, requirements, and competencies for Wireline Pumpdown Perforating (PDP) roles within an integrated wireline and completions environment. These roles support multi-stage stimulation and perforating operations in horizontal and high-angle wells.
1. Wireline Shooter (WL Shooter)
Role Overview: The Wireline Shooter is responsible for the safe preparation, assembly, arming, and execution of perforating gun systems used in pumpdown perforating operations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assemble, load, arm, and disarm perforating guns
– Prepare gun strings, detonators, and firing systems
– Ensure explosives safety compliance
– Conduct pre-job checks and verification
– Support rig-up and rig-down of PCE
– Complete job documentation
Required Experience & Qualifications:
– Wireline pumpdown perforating experience
– Certified explosives handler
– Strong HSE awareness
2. Wireline Crew Chief (WL Crew Chief)
Role Overview: Senior on-site representative supervising PDP operations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Supervise wireline crews
– Execute multi-stage PDP operations
– Coordinate with frac crews
Required Experience & Qualifications:
– Extensive PDP experience
– Leadership background
3. Wireline Equipment Operator (WL EO)
Role Overview: Operates wireline units and supports PDP execution under the Crew Chief.
Key Responsibilities:
– Operate wireline equipment
– Support conveyance and rig-up/down
– Monitor pressures and pump rates
