Petrobras refinery hits record output with pre-salt oil driving gains

(WO) – Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned oil company, achieved record production at its refineries in September 2024. The Total Utilization Factor (FUT) of its refineries reached 96.8%, the highest monthly figure this year, according to the company.

In the third quarter of 2024, Petrobras recorded an average FUT of 95.2%. This period also saw a significant increase in the processing of pre-salt oil, which made up 73% of the total load in the distillation units.

Additionally, gasoline production hit a new high with 6.38 million cubic meters produced during the quarter. Asphalt production also surged, reaching 803,000 tons, with record monthly outputs at the Reduc refinery (32,000 tons) and Repar refinery (51,000 tons) in September.

Petrobras credits the results to modernization projects, asset reliability, process optimization, and the implementation of innovative technologies.
