What You’ll Do
Based in Fairview Field, the HV Electrical Technician will be responsible for executing scheduled programmed maintenance under the guidance of the Maintenance Team Leader. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring all tasks are completed safely and cost-effectively, employing robust quality systems to minimize equipment rework.
This role demands precision and dedication to maintaining operational efficiency, contributing directly to our commitment to excellence in maintenance practices.
The HV Electrical Technician role is FIFO and on 2/2 roster work, with Brisbane as the point-of-hire.
Key accountabilities include:
- Maintain, repair, and diagnose faults in High Voltage Distribution systems, including assets like air-break switches, reclosers, transformers, and switch gear.
- Perform operational switching, test for dead circuits, phase out, apply earths, and write/verify switching procedures, including issuing Access & Test permits.
- Prepare, verify, and issue HV documentation.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on HV Overhead, Underground, and Substation Distribution network assets.
- Respond promptly to HV network faults during and outside normal business hours.
- Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance to enhance network reliability.
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated practical experience in operational switching, testing, and maintenance of High Voltage assets.
- Proficient in diagnostic, technical, PC, and equipment failure analysis skills.
- Experience and expertise with switchgear, substations, overhead, and underground distribution systems.
- Understanding of protection schemes, secondary systems relays, and primary testing maintenance is highly valued.
- Proven track record as a dedicated team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
You must hold a National High Voltage Switching Operator certification, including the capability, knowledge, and experience to work on high voltage equipment.
