Job Description

ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.

Reporting to the Maintenance & Reliability Superintendent, the Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor, Instrument & Electrical is responsible for the execution of instrument and electrical maintenance activities that support safe and reliable operations for ConocoPhillips Australia at the Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) facility, based at Curtis Island, Gladstone.

The Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor, Instrument & Electrical will lead, mentor, coach and ensure the technical and behavioral development of the instrument and electrical maintenance team and is also responsible for the completion of Planned (PM) and corrective (CM) maintenance of Safety Critical Element (SCE) maintenance and functional testing. 

The Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor, Instrument & Electrical will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the APLNG facility, including the below responsibilities:

  • Ensure the team and wider third-party contractor group is supported and works in a manner that demonstrates our company values and commitment to personal and process safety.
  • Consult with the Planning and Scheduling team, Integrated Production Lead, Shift Superintendents, and Maintenance Specialists to ensure that all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently and with quality.
  • ​Ensure compliance with the APLNG planning process for all work undertaken on the facility. 
  • ​Use maintenance & reliability KPIs to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of work execution.
  • ​Ensure cost management is applied to all maintenance activities so that maintenance & reliability budget targets are met including participating in the development of annual maintenance budgets
  • ​Establish a close working relationship with Production and Engineering Teams to facilitate effective troubleshooting techniques, and assessment of critical plant issues leading to safe and efficient resolution. 

About you

The position of Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor, Instrument & Electrical presents an exciting opportunity for a maintenance professional to sink their teeth into a site based, operational role with a global oil and gas company. You will bring a genuine interest and experience in managing and developing teams, coupled with a drive for continuous improvement and a commitment to operational excellence.

You will also bring

  • Cultural alignment to ConocoPhillips’s SPIRIT values
  • Instrument trade or diploma with 5+ years of team management experience
  • 5+ years’ experience coordinating maintenance activities in a large refinery, oil & gas or similar plant
  • 5+ years’ experience maintaining industrial instrumentation & control equipment in the oil & gas, petrochemical or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of SCE functional testing requirements
  • Strong SAP experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all areas of the organisation including a proactive approach to building and maintaining key relationships
  • Encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to live and work in Gladstone, and commute to the APLNG facility on Curtis Island via ferry Monday to Friday
