Overview

 

As a recognized company expert in the chemical business, IK Liquids to Chemicals Development is developing the production, shipping and marketing of low carbon hydrogen and ammonia as an alternative route-to-market for our oil and gas resources.  The strategy specialist is responsible to review the IK Liquids to Chemicals Development business’ strategy, and critically comment on the strategic implications of the external business environment on it and business results; collect and analyze shareholder expectations, macroeconomic and market trends, petrochemicals market research data and actual business performance; and scan the competitive landscape to find opportunities for expansion and business development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a “Strategy Advisor” for the Liquids-to-Chemicals (LTC) program and related issues, and provide relevant strategic and process-related insights to the LTC Business & Project Development Department.
  • Provide commercial and technical expertise in executing the downstream strategy, including appraisal of strategic options, identification of strategic tradeoffs and implementation plans.
  • Take a leading role in the development and updating of the LTC’ s strategy in coordination with other subject-matter experts within the various business and service lines.
  • Generate and propose strategic options, backed up with the appropriate analysis
  • Originate, organize and implement management-agreed studies and investigations into planning and program implementation studies.
  • Provide expert support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Mentor, train, and develop less-senior professionals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or closely-related specialty; an MBA or a relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in strategy development, strategic planning and scenario planning in an oil, gas, and/or petrochemicals industry context; preferably in a combination of technical, operational, commercial and strategic roles.
