Description:

ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) is currently recruiting a Calgary based Reservoir Characterization Supervisor, reporting to the Manager, Montney Development. The successful candidate will lead a team of 10+ Geoscientists and Reservoir Engineers to advance the characterization of the NE BC Montney asset area, integrating subsurface, completion and production data to understand the development potential of the asset.  Central to this role is responsible for identifying and evaluating key subsurface uncertainties and providing direction on pilot/testing strategies and the data acquisition programs to help inform decisions, de-risk the play and optimize the development plan.

This role is based out of Calgary, on a Monday to Friday, optional hybrid office schedule. 

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Champion collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical assurance with Technology, SMEs, Chiefs, and L48
  • Influence technologies and innovations to deploy and leverage corporate resources to optimize the value of the asset.

Subsurface

  • Integrated Reservoir Description:
  • Appraisal & Development Strategy:
  • Well Design Optimization:
  • Subsurface Planning and Assurance:
  • Performance Monitoring and Benchmarking:
  • Technical Assurance and Coordination:
  • Knowledge Sharing and Mentorship:

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with subsurface reservoir evaluation and uncertainty characterization
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or related field
  • 10+ years of subsurface experience
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering
  • 15+ years of subsurface experience
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Experience in Unconventional Resource Characterization
  • Track record of developing key deliverables and progressing subsurface analysis for projects through FEL gates into execution
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude for building strong relationships based on trust and seeking collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals. 
  • Ability to generate effective solutions based on available information and make timely decisions that are safe and ethical.
