Description

The mission of the Learning & Competencies team is to develop skills within the workforce that support career development and help meet ConocoPhillips’ strategic objectives. As Early Career Technical Lead, you will facilitate the planning, coordination and execution of Early Career Rotation Program, Petro Tech Academy, and the Accelerate Program. In addition, you will provide career advising services and you will be a member of the Early Career Technical Advisory Board.

The Early Career Technical Lead role is an excellent development opportunity for an energetic employee with passion for equipping and developing engineers and geoscientists. The role requires engagement and networking with Petro Tech leaders, Talent Management Team members, and key Business Unit stakeholders to deliver high-impact development programs. The Technical Lead will also have a chance to gain supervisory experience and strengthen skills in stakeholder management, integration, and influencing through their collaboration with the business.

The individual selected for this role will have the opportunity to grow their technical capabilities, people administration and leadership skills.

If selected as the Early Career Technical Lead, you will take a lead role in facilitating the planning, coordination and execution of Early Career Rotation Programs. This will include being the supervisor for up to 10 engineers and/or geoscientists.

This role may be based in Houston or Midland. Some travel will be required in the Lower 48.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supervise early career engineers and/or geoscientists during the new hire rotation programs
  • Coordinate and communicate with business unit coordinators in the new hire rotation programs
  • Communicate with business unit leadership regarding the status of the new hire rotation programs
  • Recruit, train, and support mentors for the new hire rotation programs
  • Offer career advising for early career engineers and geoscientists
  • Participate in the Early Career Advisory Board
  • Participate in the planning and execution of the Accelerate Program
  • Participate in the planning and execution of Petro Tech Academy in-person learning event
  • Provide new employees with an introduction to the industry, company, and culture

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Geoscience, other related field, or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of upstream industry experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • 3 or more years of experience partnering and/or consulting with key business leaders
  • 1 or more years of experience in multiple roles and/or BU locations
  • 1 or more years of experience in technical projects and assignments in the upstream oil and gas workplace
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Aligns efforts and priorities of the team with the strategic direction of the broader organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively in an inclusive manner with others regardless of their level, culture, or role in the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver results without direct authority and through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Ability to process multiple tasks concurrently, meet deadlines and set priorities to keep pace with a changing work environment
