Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Provides EHS support to Hess Midstream (gas compressor stations, oil terminals, trucking, pipelines, and water gathering) operations and maintenance out of the Keene, ND office.
  • Directly supports and coordinates the implementation of Hess Operational Management System elements and key processes.
  • Facilitates Control of Work, Technical Safety, Occupational Health, Permit to Work, Environmental and General EHS Risk Assessments for related activities in area.
  • Works with maintenance, service, and project contractors to ensure execution of EHS requirements.
  • EHS point of contact and EHS plan owner for area operational and MR&I leadership, scopes of work, operating rhythm, and facility outages.
  • Fulfill EHS topic subject matter expert roles in alignment with experience and represent those topics throughout the asset as needed.
  • Ensures appropriate interfaces are established with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
  • Implements systems to identify and monitor key performance indicators within area of responsibility and adjusts resources and programs as needed to improve EHS performance.
  • Develops effective working relationships with Operational and General management personnel to ensure expectations are clearly defined and met.
  • Develops strategies and programs targeted at continued and substantial improvement in EHS performance and compliance.
  • Ensures EHS Improvement Plans and departmental objectives support the operational business needs.
  • Ensures the operation is maintained in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Builds and enhances relationships with internal business partners and external organizations and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensures that risk management principles are adopted and assessments are conducted such that hazards are controlled / mitigated.
  • Certifies appropriate EHS resources are assigned to meet the business needs of the organization.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are established and implemented in support of the Hess Ways of Working.        
  • Supports annual EHS budget processes as needed in line with the business needs and ongoing contract management activities.
  • Ensures appropriate Emergency Response procedures and facilities are established which are relevant to operational activities.
  • Guarantees the effectiveness and readiness of Emergency Response arrangements is regularly tested and that improvements identified are implemented.
  • Coordinates and supports the investigation of incidents as necessary, providing corrective action recommendations as required, and monitoring / reporting on action status.
  • Confirms trend analysis is undertaken on incidents and Stop Work, providing feedback and recommendations as required.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly and annual EHS performance updates and reports as required.

Education/Training   

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in EHS in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry
  • University degree in occupational safety, health, or environmental, general science, engineering or related field, preferred

 

Work Environment    

  • Field Time (“go see”, meetings/collaboration) – 60%
  • Desk Time (admin, invoices, data analysis, emails) – 40%
