POSITION SUMMARY

This role serves as the turnaround and outage lead for North Dakota.  The position is charged with developing the overall outage/turnaround strategies for the North Dakota assets.  The position will also serve as Turnaround Manager for the Tioga Gas Plant/Compressor Stations turnarounds and will lead overall turnaround efforts in all phases including scope development, planning, scheduling, cost controls, contracting strategy, contractor management, quality assurance on work management processes, logistics coordination and creation of detailed safety plans.

The position leads the cross functional TAR team and integrates business requirements and capital projects into the overall turnaround process.  The role is responsible for safe and timely execution of all work executed in each phase of the TAR.  The position is responsible for benchmarking and conducting post-TAR after action reviews to drive the most leveraging continuous improvement opportunities.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and direction to the Turnaround and Outage teams
  • The coaching and development of team members
  • Establish strong, documented work processes for turnaround and outage management across all midstream and upstream assets in ND to drive consistency including:
    • TAR Premise
    • Critical success KPIs
    • Scope inclusion criteria of process and results
    • Milestone schedules for critical activities
    • Operations clearing and turnover plans
    • TAR-specific MOC and PSSR process
    • Contractor strategy
    • 5 Year Maintenance Plan
  • Establishes and maintains operating rhythm to ensure deliverables are routinely achieved
  • Securing resources and funding to ensure successful turnaround and outage execution
  • Perform TAR/outage readiness assessments and implement gap-closure plans, as needed
  • Integrates capital projects into the TAR systems and produces a master TA schedule including all work executed in the TAR window
  • Provides routine updates and reporting to key stakeholders including site leadership team and the TAR Steering Team
  • Ensured TAR on-boarding and training is delivered to all team members including field execution resources, as required
  • Build a collaborative culture with strategic partners anchored in trust, transparency, co-prosperity, and communication. 
  • Educates the organization on critical aspects of effective safe outage execution and best practices

  • Office based role (Tioga) 9/80 work schedule; expectation to be in field based on need

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Skills

  • 12+ years refining, petrochemical, oil and gas industry, or equivalent industry related experience such as energy, military maintenance, mining or other heavy manufacturing
  • 7+ years of leadership experience as formal people leader
  • Previous experience successfully managing turnarounds/outages over $25MM
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams to achieve business objectives
  • Proven track record of developing and executing milestone schedules and achieving critical KPIs
  • Strong knowledge of work management system, corrective/preventative maintenance planning, turnaround/outage planning, and equipment master data utilization
  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization and planning skills and able to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines for self and team
  • Proficient computer skills / business system knowledge (SAP, Excel)
  • Possess strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to lead, coach, and train others

 

Education/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
