About Houston

 

ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

Our history and our team

 

The mission of EMBSI is one that stretches back over six decades. Our team of scientists in diverse fields like epidemiology, toxicology, and environmental sciences serve as in-house experts to support ExxonMobil in meeting the world’s energy needs while keeping people and the planet safe. We opened our first facility dedicated to environmental health research in 1980. Since then, we’ve seen our work make an impact both close to home and around the world, including the development of new methods for health and environmental safety assessments.  In addition to helping shape corporate policy and product development at ExxonMobil, we take pride in sharing our research with the global scientific community.

 

What role you will play in our team

 

  • ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences, Inc. (EMBSI) is accepting applications for a Toxicologist position.
  • As a  member of the ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences Inc. (EMBSI) team, you will work alongside scientists and engineers around the globe to understand, research, and develop health, environmental and product safety solutions for ExxonMobil and the communities we serve.  
  • This position will be located in our Houston, Texas (ExxonMobil Spring Campus) location.
     

What you will do 

 

As Toxicologist within ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences you will have an impact by:

 

  • Providing strategic guidance in all aspects of toxicology evidence evaluation and chemical risk assessment to facilitate internal and external compliance
  • Actively collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to envision and advance the methodologies needed to evaluate the next generation of ExxonMobil products and processes
  • Leading technical initiatives within professional organizations and trade associations to advance contemporary risk assessment methodologies and identify novel applications.
  • Advancing the scientific dialogue through presentations at technical conferences and publications in the peer reviewed literature
  • Displaying an interest and capacity to continuously grow as an expert and leader.

 

About you 

 

Skills and Qualifications 

 

  • Ph.D. in Toxicology, Computational Toxicology or a related field
  • Experience in the planning, design and critical interpretation of toxicology studies
  • Excellent foundation in hazard identification and human health risk assessment principles.
  • Familiarity with industry toxicity testing standards (e.g. OECD Test Guidelines) and global chemical regulations
  • Familiarity with computational tools and new approach methodologies to characterize chemical risks
  • Excellent project management and communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate toxicological data and methodologies to non-scientists
  • Ability to work independently, embrace change, and collaborate with individuals with diverse backgrounds and scientific disciplines
  • Ability to accommodate periodic domestic and international travel. 
  • The successful candidate is not required to have experience across all areas, but must have the interest and take initiative to learn and develop

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience 

 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and collaborate with other scientists to produce impactful work products
  • A passion for advancing the discipline of applied toxicology
  • Demonstrated experience or interest to grow capability in computational tools and new approach methodologies to predict hazards/risk for chemicals and/or chemical mixtures (e.g. DEREK Nexus, TIMES-SS, OECD Toolbox, Benchmark Dose Software or similar computer programs and databases)
